NOW AVAILABLE
COVID-19 PCR Laboratory Test (Saliva)
Service pricing: £160
This PCR saliva test is designed to detect whether or not someone is currently carrying the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19. The test is validated as having 100% sensitivity and 100% specificity. Both the test assay and collection device are CE marked, and results are performed in an ISO15189 UK laboratory that is approved to share information with Public Health England (PHE) as part of the government’s NHS Test and Trace programme.
Compared to alternative COVID-19 testing solutions, such as a PCR swab test, the saliva testing kit is much more user-friendly and non-invasive for improved sample collection and increased accuracy. With a turnaround time of the test results usually within 48 hours* from receipt of sample in the laboratory, this simple ‘spit test’ is much more user-friendly and non-invasive compared to PCR nasal and throat swab testing for improved sample collection and increased accuracy.
The laboratory Certificate of Analysis can be used to confirm that you are fit to travel or return to work if a Negative PCR is a requirement to allow this. Please be aware that this certificate does not guarantee entry into any country.
Covid-19 antibody testing can tell whether a person has been previously infected. Most patients who recover from coronavirus have been found to produce antibodies, but it is not yet known if an individual with a positive result showing presence of IgG levels following being infected with SARS-CoV-2 will be protected, either fully or partially from future infection, or for how long protective immunity may last.
Testing should be undertaken 14 days or more following exposure or onset of symptoms. The incubation period of COVID-19 ranges from between 1 to 14 days, with the majority of cases manifesting with symptoms at 3 – 5 days. The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, tiredness, dry cough and difficulty breathing.
