Endometrial Receptivity Analysis
Endometrial Receptivity Analysis
The Endometrial Receptivity Analysis (ERA) test is a pioneering new method of assessing when the endometrium (womb lining) is most receptive. This allows Clinicians to personalise the timing of embryo transfer to maximised chances of implantation.
Receptivity of the endometrium is a crucial factor in determining the success of IVF treatment. During IVF treatment, Clinicians have to estimate when the endometrium has reached the optimal time to introduce the embryo into the womb based on ultrasound scan results. This method does not always account for the differences in individual cycle patterns which means that not every woman’s endometrium will be at its most receptive at the same time. Three in every ten patients have displaced window of implantation.
By taking a small biopsy of the endometrium, the ERA test allows the analysis of 236 genes, to look for the genes that are vital to implantation that should be ‘switched on’ when the lining is receptive to receive an embryo. This then allows the timing of embryo transfer to be altered and personalised according to the ERA result to maximise the outcome.
This test has shown not to discriminate between fertile and infertile patients and it does not guarantee a successful outcome after personalised embryo transfer.
